How do we break the silence about domestic violence which, with 10 deaths recorded in Marion County in the first four months of 2018, is reaching epidemic proportions locally and nationally? Dr. Judy Wilson, CEO of the Ocala Domestic Violence/Sexual Assault Center, will lead a panel discussing a crime which affects everyone regardless of age, race, education or financial status when the May 11th Friday Forum meets at 11:30 a.m. at Golden Corral, 2111 SW State Road 200, Ocala. The luncheon/discussions are always open to the public. In addition to Elizabeth Long, Victim Advocate in the Sheriff's Department, Wilson will be joined by members of her staff which include Diana Ayers, Domestic Violence Advocate; Maureen Quinlan, Sexual Abuse Victim Advocate; and Amira James, Child Welfare Advocate. The moderator will be Gerry Brent, Executive Director, Marion County Chapter, National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI).
